For thousands of high schoolers, a podcast called Teenager Therapy has become a lifeline. Designed to “help you feel less alone,” the show features five students from Loara High School in Anaheim, California, having candid conversations on mental health, friendships, school, family, and more. It was launched in 2018 but has become a breakout hit as young people look for ways to cope during the Covid-19 pandemic. Part of its success is that it’s made by teens for teens; the hosts—who are all seniors this year—are able to share their experiences with others going through similar situations. As their fan base grows, the team has remained connected with their listeners, who reach out on social media. “People often start their message with, ‘I don’t know who to tell but you guys,’” says Gael Aitor, 17, one of the hosts. “We want our listeners to feel like they are part of our friend group.”
