Remy Tsukahira, 17, of Los Angeles, runs two small businesses, selling stickers and decorative cupcakes. But when she wanted to learn more about entrepreneurship, she couldn’t find helpful resources. So she launched Artemis Girls Business Academy, which educates teen girls about careers in business through online speakers, interviews, and more.

Q: Why do you think girls should learn about business?

A: Many skills that we learn can be used in careers that aren’t necessarily in the business space. For example, networking is useful in any job, and learning to stick up for yourself is important anywhere you go.

Q: You won a Prudential Emerging Visionaries award. What was that like?

A: I got $15,000, which is super awesome. We’re planning on using it to expand our online resources, like looking into a MasterClass-like video library.

Q: Have you heard any success stories from participants?

We’ve had people secure internships, and my friend got a sponsorship for her basketball team. Seeing the effect of this on others is my driving factor.

Q: What have you learned from this experience?

When you’re trying to make changes in the world, it can feel really daunting. A support system will get you through the toughest times.
